In honor of the Luau Party (which promises to be "Hawaiian as f*ck")... I have come up with a list of things to possibly avoid at this party, and all others.
And as a disclaimer, some readers may notice some things that they might be guilty of, and I am guilty of some. I love all my friends, and would not immortalize them in this way if I did not. You know who you are. So here they are (in no particular order):
20 Ways to Be Awkward/Creepy at a Party:
1. Going to a party you weren't invited to - where you know no one - especially if you're in costume.
2. "Exercising" drunk in a kitchen, using the counter.
3. Trying to tell a "hilarious" joke, and spilling a drink all over someone.
4. Telling everyone about the time when you really wanted to get with someone... while they're there.
5. Using the line, "It's not cheating if there's denim in between..."
6. Introducing yourself to someone over and over, using the same "Hi, I'm ____"
7. Mentioning to someone that the two of you only talk when drunk, promising to resolve that, and then being awkward at work the following Monday.
8. Telling a girl you're going to send her a Facebook message, and then you're taking her to Olive Garden.
9. Talking thisclose to perfect strangers.
10. Dancing with a wall.
11. Telling someone that they're a "sex symbol" of anything.
12. Leaning in to whisper something to someone and softly kissing them on the neck.
13. Stealing a drink from someone - especially someone you don't really know.
14. Daring a girl to kiss a friend and then shaking her hand afterward.
15. Showing up in just a sleeping bag.
16. Telling someone that you've got it "locked up" with another person.
17. Breaking a frozen lawn chair against a tree.
18. Walking home and scaring someone in the street.
19. (For the day after) Calling someone and asking them to explain their inappropriate drunk dial... the following evening.
20. (For the day after) Bringing up drunken conversations about inappropriate things, while sober.
