So I saw Wanted last night and it was freaking amazing. This movie was seriously the 2nd best movie I've seen in a long, long time --- second of course to my beloved Iron Man. I loved it so much that I think I'm seeing it again tonight... followed by WALL-E tomorrow, most likely. Everyone I work around is seeing these this weekend, so I have to be sure to keep up...
There were two impressive things about Wanted. The cinematography and James McAvoy. The cinematography of this film made my mind want to burst into a million pieces and made me want to be a better aspiring filmmaker. I couldn't even believe what I was seeing most of the time. I just leaned forward in my seat, propped my head on my hands and gazed in awe and wonderment. Some parts of this movie were cheesy, but overall it was so kick ass, I can't even describe.
James McAvoy is fantastic in this... He was good in Atonement, but he really came into his own on this... his character is relateable, funny, and it's great to see him transform from a nobody who hates his job to an ass kicking assassin... By the end of the movie, there's a scene where he has his shirt off, and you can really see how hard he had to work for this film... and the awkwardness between his character and Angelina Jolie's Fox was great... probably reflects real life, she's a presence.
Perhaps the most astounding thing about James McAvoy's performance is the loss of his incredibly thick Scottish accent... See here for an example.
Wanted was fast paced, incredibly intense and altogether amazing. YEAH!
