So to start me off - here's a photo from my vacation with my boyfriend to Hong Kong and Indonesia...
Hong Kong was so completely amazing, and I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who wants to dip their toes into the huge infinite ocean that is Asia. For West Coasters, it's just a mere 15 hour plane ride (it's relatively cheap with regular flights out of LAX). It's like New York, or what I assume London or Paris must be like - just an enormous global city that is pulsing with life and culture and FOOD.
Some of the many things we ate in Hong Kong that we love to tell people about:
- Preserved duck egg - it was blue and clear and our waitress shamed me into eating it
- Goose - bonier than I would've imagined
- Duck - the Pièce de résistance - delicious roasted Chinese duck... to die for
- Dim Sum (twice!) - Once at the place Anthony Bourdain went - the Lin Hueng Tea House, and once at City Hall... notice the difference!
- Vegetarian lunch at the Po Lin Monastery - tucked away in the mountains next to the giant Buddha
- Deep fried chili crabs and mantis prawns at a street restaurant in the Temple Street Night Market (probably the best food we ate in HK)
